On Facebook today, your ad picks the audience more than the settings do. The first line of your ad is your real targeting — the settings just narrow the room.

  • Location. A 10–15 mile radius around where you work, "people living in or recently in this location."
  • Age. Keep it wide — 21 to 60 is a reasonable default.
  • Interests. 3 to 6 that fit the job, and leave Advantage+ audience widening on.
  • Don't stack 20 interests or shrink to one ZIP code. Too small, and the ad never really runs.

Worked examples from AlongSide's own launch (mobile mechanics, trainers, caterers) are labeled "AlongSide's own test, results not in yet" — real numbers once they land, not before.

Your first line does the real targeting. That's next.
