There's no wrong answer. Pick the one you'll actually show up to.

At home

Walking, bodyweight moves and a pair of dumbbells cover the first few months. Cheap and no commute. The downside: it's easy to skip, and you'll outgrow it.

A gym membership

Works if it's close to home or work and you'll actually go. Watch out for long contracts you don't need yet.

An AlongSide gym Space, by the hour

AlongSide has gym Spaces you can book by the hour, right here on the site: real racks, weights and room to move, with no membership and no contract. You pay for the hour you use. Bring your own plan, or add a trainer to the booking so they work the Session alongside you.

A trainer beside you

AlongSide trainers work at the Level you choose:

  • Watch Over: you do the workout, they watch your form and speak up when needed.
  • Side by Side: they show you each move, then you do it.
  • Talk Me Through: remote coaching by video while you train at home.

You don't need a trainer forever. A few Sessions at the start, for the moves that are easy to get wrong, is usually enough to run your plan on your own. Print the first-trainer-Session checklist so you get the most out of it.
