The Course

A licensed electrician walks homeowners through how a home's electrical system works and the jobs most people can safely do themselves: replacing outlets, switches and light fixtures. They practice on training boards before touching anything at home. They also learn where the line is: what needs a permit, an inspection or a licensed electrician.

What Members walk away able to do

  • Understand circuits, breakers, grounding and GFCI/AFCI protection
  • Shut off and verify a circuit is dead every time
  • Replace outlets, switches and fixtures to code on a training board
  • Recognize warning signs that need a licensed electrician
  • Know when a permit and inspection are required
